We've Decided To Go Public With Our Little Accident

The people of Mountain Lake, MN are an inventive bunch. How else can you account for the fact that the town of Mountain Lake has neither a lake nor a mountain? But while the story you're about to read may sound fictitious, there's nothing made up about it.

 
We, Stan and Gladys Friesen, are just regular folks. Stan's been farming about 500 acres near Mountain Lake for around 30 years - much like his dad before him - growing corn and soybeans. Nothing fancy, just hard work, perseverance, and a faith that keeps us committed to the farm, our neighbors and our community.

 

Stan's dad will tell you that Stan was always a dreamer and a problem solver. Take his tractor for instance - Stan built it from the ground up with a high-powered diesel engine from a semi tractor/trailer. Stan's dad, Arno, beams and says the east half of Cottonwood county actually shakes when Stan fires up the "Brute".

Stan's desire to live independent of as many outside energy sources as possible has led him to other experimenting. It was a quiet night on our farm. Stan was in the kitchen, working on a new ethanol fuel recipe. Gladys was catching up on some reading. Stan stepped into the living room for a moment while a batch heated up on the stove. Suddenly, KABOOM! Stan and Gladys came running. There was exploded corn all over the kitchen! Being the inquisitive type, Stan was more interested in tasting the stuff than cleaning up or explaining to Gladys - though by now she had gotten somewhat used to this sort of thing. While it didn't look like much, he discovered that it was about the best tasting stuff he'd ever eaten!

Anyway, friends and neighbors soon heard our story and, after tasting some at a Christmas gathering, convinced us we were on to something BIG! A friend came up with the product name and behold, the GLAD CORN® brand A-Maizing Corn Snack was born!

Many people tell us it's better than popcorn and easier on your teeth than other corn products on the market. We won't give out the secret of how it's made but we would be the first to point out that it doesn't look like much but wait until you taste it!

This A-Maizing Corn Snack doesn't have any preservatives and there are only three ingredients: Field corn, non-hydrogenated soybean oil, and salt.  Gladys is happy that the operation has moved out of the kitchen but is still done right on our farm.

     We're thankful to Dianne, Larry, Carol, Ross, David, Kim and Arno for being a vital part of the Glad Corn team. We're most thankful to the Lord for giving us this product and the opportunities it brings. A favorite Bible verse of ours is Jeremiah 33: 2&3 - "This is what the Lord says, He who made the earth, He who formed it and established it -- the Lord is His name: Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." He is the Creator of all things. He desires us to communicate with Him, to individually accept His death as payment for our sin and to allow Him to daily be Lord of our lives. What an awesome God He is!!

It is our hope that once you've had the opportunity to munch on our A-Maizing Corn Snack that you'll enjoy it as much as we have. It's been a real adventure and a blessing in our lives.
